Company Description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders who pioneered the field of single-molecule live cell imaging (Nobel Prize, 2014).

We are building a passionate and creative team eager to apply their talents to empower interdisciplinary scientific exploration, inaugurate a radical drug-discovery paradigm and ultimately create novel medicines.

Position

As a Research Associate in Biochemistry at Eikon, you will support advancement of our broad drug discovery pipeline, playing a key role in developing and implementing a wide variety of assays, covering from conventional biochemistry, biophysics to latest single-molecule imaging techniques. You will collaborate closely with biologists, chemists, computer scientists and microscope engineers to create and leverage new assay and screening approaches that will push our drug discovery pipeline forward.

 About you:

  • You’re a rigorous experimentalist who takes pride in your ability to execute at the bench and deliver high quality data. As a team player, accountability is your motto.
  • You’re conscientious and pay extreme attention to detail, documentation and organization.
  • You’re curious, love learning and are not intimidated by challenging problems.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy working in a cross-disciplinary team and pushing the edge of what is possible.
  • You’re resourceful and like to work independently, but are not shy to ask for advice.
  • You’re collaborative by nature and are happy to jump in and help.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with scientists to provide biochemical support to drug discovery programs in the Eikon pipeline.
  • Design plasmid constructs for prokaryotic or eukaryotic expression. Maintain and engineer cell lines for protein expression and technology innovation. Purify and characterize proteins.
  • Understand and carry out common biochemical/biophysical assays, analyze and interpret data, keep detailed and organized records and report results to project teams.
  • Think critically and creatively, exercise and polish problem-solving skills. Develop and implement novel biochemical/biophysical and single-molecule imaging based assays.
  • Collaborate and communicate across multiple projects simultaneously and manage diverse team interactions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular/cell biology, genetics or related discipline with 2+ years of hands-on research experience in an industrial or academic setting.
  • Must have hands on experience (beyond a lab course) with recombinant protein purification and analysis (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, or ELISA), biochemical assays, DNA extraction and enzymatic analysis (restriction digestion, ligation, or PCR)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture is a plus.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Exemplary written, verbal, and presentation skills. Keen analytical and problem-solving skills.

Eikon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment.
