ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated senior scientist to join the Molecular Assessment and Profiling group in BioMedicine Design as part of large molecule therapeutic discovery efforts.  The candidate will have daily interactions with a team of creative and innovative scientists, working collaboratively to conduct rigorous scientific and drug discovery research. This individual will plan, execute, and provide in-depth biochemical and biophysical characterization of AAV viral vectors and AAV capsids. In addition, this person will work with the biophysics team to drive gene therapy innovation, novel assays, and technology development.

As a member of the drug discovery team, the successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be playing a significant role in the drug discovery process.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply creative thinking and scientific expertise to the analysis of viral vectors

  • Conceptualize and design experiments.

  • Perform quality and stability assessment of gene therapy candidates

  • Critically analyze and present experiment results across multiple teams spanning general to subject expert audiences

  • Member of therapeutic discovery teams

  • Provide scientific guidance and decisions to move projects along the drug discovery pipeline

  • Drive technology innovation; evaluate new technologies and instrumentations

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including AAV production groups, mass spec, and development organization to plan and execute deliverables

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD with 0-3 years of relevant experience in Biochemistry, Biophysics or related discipline

  • A solid understanding of protein biochemistry and stability

  • Hands-on experience with various protein, and DNA characterization methods and analytical biochemistry techniques (for example cGE, SEC, MALS, DLS, AUC, qPCR, DNA gel)

  • Ability to multi-task multiple projects with overlapping timelines.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in therapeutic drug discovery and biochemistry research

  • Prior experience with viral vectors and/or AAV analytics is desirable

  • Demonstrated track record of independent research and scientific publications in peer review journals
