Job Details
Verge Genomics is a next-generation biopharmaceutical start-up using human genomics to accelerate development of life-saving treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. Our platform uses patient tissue profiling, human genetics, and machine learning to identify new therapeutic gene targets, predict effective drugs, and stratify patient subpopulations for increased clinical success. Verge's approach offers a breakthrough opportunity to identify drugs that dramatically improve patient outcomes and fundamentally lower the cost curve of pharmaceutical development. Verge Genomics is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our Drug Discovery Team. This position is located in South San Francisco, CA.
What You'll Do...
- Contribute and write detailed research project plans and methodological SOPs that guide yours and other team members’ laboratory activities.
- Small animal handling and dosing of test agents via various routes (IV, SC, IP PO) including ICV and other CNS delivery routes
- Perform CNS tissue (brain, spinal cord) collection and blood collection (cardiac puncture and submandibular)
- Colony management including breeding, tattooing, weaning and genotyping
- Manage relationships with CROs and obtain data
- Uses molecular and biochemical methods, including RNA isolation, qPCR, ELISA, WB. Experience in tissue sectioning, histology and microscopy is a plus.
- Accurate and organized data entry, analysis, technical report writing, and presentation of experimental results to research groups. Experience with ELNs is a plus.
Job Requirements & Technical Competencies Required...
- BA or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
- Mouse dosing routes experience: PO, IP is required; IV is nice to have.
- Tissue (preferable CNS tissues) and blood collection skills
- Experience in mouse health monitoring and behavior tests is highly preferred
- Mol Biol experience (PCR, nucleic acid extraction, ELISA, etc) is nice to have
- Potential to work in off hours and/or weekends
