Laboratory Technician

We are currently searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC and it is on-site in Rockville, MD.

• Perform laboratory techniques relating to scientific research, prepare samples and equipment for use.
• Perform experiments in protein identification, separation, purification, biophysical analysis, and bacterial culture identification.
• Contribute to the protein ID projects underway in the Protein Chemistry Section (PCS).
• Work with samples from bacterial cultures and inactivated proteins from a variety of biological sources.
• Perform sample management and storage.
• Analyze, document and report on all procedures performed.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.

• BS/BA degree in biology or related discipline.
• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a laboratory setting, utilizing basic biochemical laboratory techniques.
• Basic understanding of protein and peptide chemistry is required.
• Experience with mass spectrometry including MALDI, preferred.
