Responsibilities
  • Prioritize workflow to accommodate events, tastings, and product demonstrations. 
  • Organize a workstation to work efficiently, cleanly, and in a manner reflective of Mission Barns Standards.
  • Contribute to product development meetings with ideas, formulas, and processes that will better systems associated with Mission Barns work.
  • Innovate and experiment for benchtop prototyping. Encompassing, but not limited to, areas of new product development, ingredient, and process optimization, scale-up.
  • Fulfill deadlines in accordance with your direct supervisor's instruction. Note taking and meticulous documentation.
  • Liaise with distributors to replenish ingredients and source new material. 
  • Participate in product demonstrations, in house tastings, focus groups, and sensory panels. 
  • Create or assist in the creation of nutrition labels corresponding to product development. 
  • Accommodate and abide by all rules and regulations of Mission Barns and/or any other governing body pertinent to our field of work.
  • Articulate ideas and approaches associated with innovation tied to new product development. 
  • Replicate and execute current formulas. 
  • Maintain inventory of both in house supplies and bench top prototypes. 
  • Coordinate with other team members in efforts relating to accomplishing directives.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Multitask different projects while maintaining a high standard.

Physical requirements
  • Must be able to meet these requirements with or without accommodations
  • Ability to stand on your feet for up to 10 hours with legally required breaks, where applicable.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to follow basic verbal directions as instructed by applicable supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to handle fluctuation in temperature associated with ovens, cooling environments, or sterile rooms.

About You
  • 3-5 years experience in Culinary Arts, Food Science, Product Development or a field of relation. 
  • B.S. in culinary arts, RCA,  nutrition, or food science. 
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with NPD, ingredient optimization, nutritional analysis, commercialization and scale up, cross functional coordination, trend research, sensory paneling and evaluation, product demonstrations, inventory management, quality control, process, and formula documentation.
