Lets do this. Lets change the world. During this program, you will contribute to the discovery and validation of novel targets in support of Amgens next generation of innovative therapeutics for precision oncology.

  • Make scientific laboratory-based contributions to an oncology research project centered on target identification and validation.
  • Develop and hone a practical skillset focused on molecular and cell biology techniques used in preclinical models of research.
  • Work within an intellectually driven, team-centered training environment.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams within Amgens Discovery Research organization.
  • Specific responsibilities include design and execution of laboratory experiments, data analysis, and communication of results to a dynamic group of research scientists.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older.

Graduated with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent.

Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Masters program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Masters OR Pharm D OR PhD program before internship starts.

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment.

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts.

Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in biology or a related field with a background in cancer biology and pathways.

A strong skillset with standard cell and molecular biology experimental design and techniques (e.g. cell culture, western blotting, qPCR, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, etc.)

Experience with modern techniques for assaying gene function (CRISPR or shRNA).

Experience in target identification and validation or supporting the early stages of drug discovery.

A track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement, supported by publications and/or contributions to cancer biology or drug discovery programs.
