Associate Scientist/Scientist, Molecular Biology – Athens, GA

Our Alloy Athens team is looking for an Associate Scientist or Scientist to join our team in Athens, GA. The position will report directly to our Director of Antibody Technology and work with our team to support the discovery of antibody-based therapeutics and the development of new platform technologies. You will be using the very latest cell and molecular biology techniques and protocols with the ultimate goal of helping others to make better medicines.

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Perform recombinant DNA activities, ranging from cloning (Gibson Assembly, PCR, Vector Digestion) and DNA plasmid purification (small & large-scale) to supporting antigen, antibody and multi-specific molecule construction and production
  • Utilize high-throughput workflow methods and automation implementation to accomplish recombinant DNA production and assembly
  • Analyze and interpret DNA sequencing results and maintain analysis output and results tracking
  • Help coordinate small- and large-scale DNA hand-off between functional groups
  • Catalog and maintain internal reagents and Molecular Biology output (organization of plasmids, PCR, synthetic DNA, primers, and other team reagents)
  • Maintain organized electronic Lab Notebook & utilize electronic LIMS for DNA and Protein sample tracking
  • High throughput cloning of antibodies into mammalian expression vectors

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.S/M.S with 4+ years or PhD with 2+ years of experience in antibody discovery and/or
  • Experience with flow cytometry and molecular biology protocols
  • Experience in discovery of antibodies using B cell platforms is highly preferred
  • Experience in adapting manual processes to automation
  • Attention to detail, rigorous and innovative scientific thinking and appropriate documentation, clear communication
  • An independent sense of urgency, persistence, and integrity

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Routine molecular biology techniques such as Gibson cloning, PCR
  • NGS analysis using Geneious biologics or similar software
  • NGS library building using 10X genomics protocols
  • A track record of troubleshooting instruments
  • ELN and LIMS experience
