Akadeum is seeking an Applications Scientist who will drive growth of new applications and provide top notch technical support to customers. This position will unearth new applications, drive forward applications with customers, inform new kit development arising from applications and actively participate in the sales process by placing kits with users for their applications. This role will join our existing commercial team, which includes other applications scientists.

The Applications Scientist will be the highly collaborative internal networker, leveraging outstanding communication skills and an engaging demeanor to support the sales team occasionally in the field and often on calls, provide customer feedback to R&D, and technical guidance to marketing. As an Applications Scientist, you will be expected to be able to work with R&D to define, and on occasion personally execute on, applications-oriented experiments, guide timeline setting for applications and translate complex data into commercial-driving application notes, data briefs and presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification and development of new application areas for Akadeum microbubbles to drive commercial growth
  • Provide technical support and product guidance in a timely manner to customers and partners, pre- and post-sales
  • Answer customer inquiries received by phone, email, chat or meeting requests
  • Write commercially-focused application notes and data briefs, with goal of driving additional users
  • Actively participate in the sales process by placing kits with customers
  • Collaborate with customers to feature their work in Researcher Spotlights and webinars
  • Create and present webinars and presentations at conferences and seminars
  • Provide technical content writing support to marketing
  • Travel to customer and partner sites for in-lab demos and troubleshooting
  • Be the voice of the customer to internal teams, inclusive of new product development, R&D, quality and marketing
  • Assist quality with customer complaint handling
  • Provide support for conference efforts
  • Other duties as required by company needs

Key Qualifications

  • An ability and desire to relate to and value the customer, provide technical guidance, fit products to enable research and identify and support unique applications of products
  • Proven ability to distill complex messages into effective, succinct technical messaging and marketing materials
  • Technical fortitude, in particular, knowledge in the immunology and cell separation space
  • Strong initiative to get things done combined with a cross-functional collaborative attitude
  • Understanding of commercial scientific marketing and desire to sell kits, as selling product is a part of this role
  • Ability to translate the voice of the customer into actionable items
  • Comfortable with scientific literature search for potential relevant methods and techniques to acquire necessary information to support application note writing and experiment planning
  • Willingness to lend a hand as needed across the organization
  • Strong multitasking ability and adjustment of priorities in a quick-paced environment
  • Desire to travel, as needed
  • Familiar with CRM software such as HubSpot
  • Degree in the life sciences
