Job Details
The Ophthalmology group in Regeneron is seeking a highly motivated individual to help with identification of novel targets and testing drug candidates for treating eyes diseases such as dry eye, glaucoma, macular, retina degeneration. This position offers early career scientist the opportunity to receive proper scientific training, conduct creative, and collaborative research that results in medicines treating human ocular diseases. This person will have the chance to use state of the art equipment and study the fundamentals underneath human eye diseases. At the same time, they will be able to test the effects of novel drug candidates in animal models, providing experimental proof for IND filing and clinical trials.
A day in the life of an R&D Specialist in the Ophthalmic group may look like:
- Reads and begins to critically evaluate the literature
- Learns safety requirements of his/her laboratory
- Designs and executes experiments based on protocols provided by literature, seminars, and other scientists
- Demonstrates a creative and critical approach to scientific problem solving
- Provides suggestions for modifications to protocols or alternative protocols
- Works independently, showing excellent mastery of the technical skills in the field, knowledge of proper controls, and an ability to develop research strategies
