OVERVIEW:

The major goals of the ongoing projects include generation and characterization of vaccine candidates against several viral targets, development and execution of assays and tools to support in vitro and in vivo characterization of vaccine candidates.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the generation and characterization of vaccine candidates against several viral targets
    • Assist in mammalian cell culture
    • Grow virus stocks in mammalian cells and determine viral titers by plaque assay and fluorescent focus assay
    • Assist in coordination and preparation of materials for in vivo studies
  • Develop and execute assays to support characterization of vaccine candidates
    • Virus neutralization assays
    • ELISA
    • mRNA/DNA transfection and immunostaining
    • EPISPOT

 

  • Maintain laboratory equipment upkeep (including sending pipettes for calibration and other routine lab duties)
  • Document experiments in electronic lab notebook
  • Report the data to the scientific supervisor

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PROFILE:

  • Bachelor of Science in a related field with 2+ years of lab experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and virological/immunological assays preferred
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GraphPad Prism
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with members of other functional groups within the organization.
  • Experience in working with infectious diseases (BSL2, BSL2+) is a plus
  • Knowledge of SoftMaxPro and ability to analyze the data
  • Familiarity with multimode readers such as SpectraMax i3, Celigo and Cytation7 is a plus
