Grad Intern R&D (ML for Proteins)
LiveThis could be your everyday
Lets do this. Lets change the world. During this program, you will apply state of the art machine learning techniques to the prediction of protein properties important for the development of novel drugs.
Amgens 10 13 week internship program offers significant project experiences that impact patients lives. Amgen, a biotechnology pioneer, discovers, develops and delivers innovative human therapeutics. Our medicines have helped millions of patients in the fight against cancer, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other serious illnesses.
The Protein Technologies team is responsible for crafting, planning, and completing the generation of key enabling DNA and protein reagents to support discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and ground breaking novel modalities across Amgens therapeutic areas.
This internship explores machine learning methods that demonstrate both sequence and structural information to predict protein properties important for the development of novel drugs. The successful intern will explore various implementations, comparing transfer learning to custom networks, and evaluate their method on datasets as well as by visual inspection. The final method will then be applied to new incoming data for ongoing testing to improve performance. Well-suited applicants will have a background in machine learning and a curiosity about proteins.
The intern will gain hands-on experience in protein evaluation in an industrial setting and will have the opportunity to interact with various functions such as in Protein Technologies and Computational Data sciences. This opportunity will allow the intern to see first-hand how early-stage large molecule drug development is conducted.
This internship can be conducted in person at South San Francisco or remotely.
