The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.

The Reagent Research and Development group is seeking a Research Associate / Associate Scientist to assist in the exploration of new biochemistry and methods for genomic technology. Ideal candidates will carry out various assays to provide a better understanding or our reagents and to improve data quality and customer experience. Candidates are expected to be eager to learn and familiar with common laboratory techniques. With mentoring, the candidate will be able to develop and optimize methods/techniques for testing and the evaluation of formulations used on our instruments.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Prepare reagents, execute established surrogate assays, and carry out runs on our instruments
  • Perform data analysis and give occasional presentations
  • Communicate experimental issues and troubleshoot (with help if needed)
  • In time, assist in the development of new assays
  • Keep detailed record of all laboratory activities in an organized fashion
  • Works closely with lead scientist to reach team and company objectives
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Basic mathematical/statistical skills and general knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and molecular biology
  • Significant research experience in the study of biomolecules and their interactions/reactions and an thorough understanding of their work (publications are a plus)
  • Effective problem-solving skill to surmount basic problems encountered in the laboratory
  • Self-awareness and attention to detail
  • Curiosity and drive to produce high-quality work without rushing
  • Able to work effectively on their own and in a team context
  • Ability to communicate results clearly to peers and management through conversation and PowerPoint presentations
  • Familiarity with NGS and its common applications is a plus
  • Advanced statistical analysis particularly the use of statistical software tools is a plus (JMP, R, Matlab)
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science and Master of Science with 1 to 3 years experience as an individual contributor in a research laboratory (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Experience running complex laboratory equipment (e.g., microscopes, sequencers, flow cytometers, etc.)
