The Therapeutic Payload Group at GenEdit is seeking two passionate, creative Scientists to lead from the bench our efforts to design, discover and develop therapeutic RNAi that are delivered using our proprietary nanoparticle technology. These are two important roles in the Research organization, and the successful candidates will be responsible applying their previous experiences in designing therapeutic RNAi candidates and evaluate their efficacy in various in vitro and in vivo systems, taking in the considerations off-target and toxicities. These hands-on lab-based positions will focus on the design and innovation in our therapeutic program. These individuals will work closely with all of the functional teams within the company (chemistry, formulation, cell biology, and preclinical) as well as with our external partners and CROs to execute on the discovery and development of our lead therapeutic product. Successful candidates will be highly independent and critical scientists and resourceful team players who communicate effectively and approach technical challenges with enthusiasm, discipline, and attention to detail.

Education and Qualifications:

    • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Neurobiology, or related life science field
    • At least 3 years of academic/pharma post-doctoral research experience
    • Intellectually agile and able to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment
    • Work authorization in the US is required

Skills and abilities

    • Strong direct hands-on experience with designing and evaluating the on-target and off-target activities of therapeutic RNAi
    • In-depth knowledge of RNAi methods to measure targeted gene silencing such as transfection, RNA electrophoresis, western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, or cell imaging
    • Preferred experience with chemical and structural nucleotide modifications of siRNA including PS, 2’-OMe, 2’-Fluoro, and LNA
    • Preferred expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods including RNA-seq, bioinformatics, and NGS data analysis (Python)
    • Expertise in NGS analytical methods to model RNAi on-target and off-target activity in vitro is a plus
    • Experience with qRT-PCR, RNAScope, and related assays are a plus
    • Direct experience with evaluating the PK and efficacy of RNAi candidates in wt as well as disease model species is a plus
    • Direct experience with ASO is a plus.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills including detailed record keeping (ELN)
    • A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • High-level analytical capability
    • Experience in analyzing, organizing, and presenting data at internal and external meetings
