We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individual with a strong passion for and dedication to the discovery of new life-saving medicines. The selected candidate will work in a highly collaborative and dynamic research environment to support the discovery and development of novel experimental long-acting agents for HIV treatment, prevention, and cure. Primary responsibilities will include leading a wide breadth of preclinical studies to characterize investigational therapeutic agents, as well as designing and evaluating new targets and therapeutic strategies in a fast-paced team environment. The successful candidate would be expected to:

  • Independently design, execute, and optimize cell-based virology and immunology assays to support the discovery and development of HIV therapeutics
  • Function as a core member in one or more multidisciplinary project teams to support essential research activities within the HIV research portfolio
  • Support and manage external collaborations that complement research goals
  • Make effective use of literature and external CROs to complement research activities
  • Support the drafting of regulatory documents, manuscripts and/or patent filings
  • Regularly document research findings in electronic notebook entries
  • Regularly present research updates at project team meetings and to senior leadership team

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • PhD in a relevant life science discipline (virology, infectious disease, immunology, cellular and molecular biology)
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-PhD experience focused on innovative research in virology, viral immunology, biologics, drug development, or cell therapy is preferred
  • Strong track record of scientific achievements, including publications and/or external presentations
  • Experience in assay development, ability to evaluate quality of the data, recognize anomalous results and interpret experimental outcomes is essential
  • Hands-on experience in primary cell isolation, immune cell functional assays, antiviral assays, multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA/Luminex, molecular biology techniques, and automation is highly desired
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to integrate and interact effectively within the Virology group and the Research organization
