Job Details

Molecular Templates is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of differentiated, targeted, biologic therapeutics.  Our proprietary biologic drug platform technology, known as engineered toxin bodies, or ETBs, leverages the resident biology of a genetically engineered form of Shiga-like Toxin A subunit to create novel therapies with potent and differentiated mechanisms of action for cancer and other serious diseases.  MTEM currently has multiple clinical-stage E Molecular TB candidates in development including MT-5111, MT-0169, and MT-6402.  Additional preclinical compounds derived from our ETB platform technology are being advanced toward clinical development.  Additional information about Molecular Templates can be obtained at www.mtem.com.     

 

Position Overview: 

 

Molecular Templates is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to support purchasing activities. The Procurement Associate will be responsible for transactional purchasing activities, vendor relations, obtaining product or service information, and generating reports in a compliant environment. This requires excellent understanding of industry regulations, customer service skills, and strong attention-to-detail, plus excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Collaborate with scientific and other staff in a pre-GMP environment for procurement needs related to materials, scientific equipment, services, and supplies 

  • Obtain RFQ and other required documentation according to company standards and SOP 

  • Prepare purchase orders and monitor of orders for timely receipt, according to production and other scientific schedules 

  • Process change order requests as needed to support timely processing of invoices 

  • Work with internal resources to understand and develop vendor forecasting 

  • Perform internal quantitative and qualitative analysis on potential suppliers, industry/market trends and supplier risk 

  • Conduct preliminary supplier qualification review including financial, risk and reference review 

  • Maintain updated lead times on material  

  • Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, department liaisons, and other stakeholders 

  • Participate in process improvements, as needed 

  • Actively seeks opportunities to improve business objectives and reduce company spend 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Associates Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences or related field, required.  Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. 

  • Minimum of two to five (2 – 5) years of relevant experience in a procurement role 

  • Experience in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment, preferred 

  • ERP knowledge, specifically in SAP, preferred 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles and practices of procurement 

  • Proficiency with databases related to purchasing, receipts, inventory, and accounts payable 

  • Familiarity with Sarbanes–Oxley compliance and financial controls, a plus 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite applications 

  • Excellent planning, organization, and execution skills 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines 

  • Ability to maintain highest standards of accuracy and strong attention-to-detail  

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to make correct independent decisions when appropriate, adjust and conform with varying schedules, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks, problem solve, and communicate effectively with company policy and procedures in mind 

  • Ability to function under supervision and exercise good judgement 

  • Aptitude for teamwork and collaborative structure 

 

Reporting Structure: 

 

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities. This position reports to Procurement Supervisor, Supply Chain.
