ROLE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the procurement process for all laboratory supplies and services for the Vaccine Research & Development (VRD) Research and High-throughput Clinical Immunoassays & Diagnostics (HCID) groups located in Pearl River. The colleague will work closely with VRD leadership to assist in the preparation of preparation of Operating and Capital Budget, coordination of contract workers, and laboratory site support services. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all supplies and services for VRD Pearl River Research and HCID groups. This includes working with leaders and groups to identify needs and prioritize activities.

  • Manage interactions and relationships with vendors supporting VRD Pearl River Research and HCID group.

  • Manage the VRD capital budget. Prioritize the allocation among VRD groups and insuring maximizing the effective use of the limited budget to support VRD programs.

  • Represent VRD Business Operations group in meetings with laboratory colleagues, clinical study teams and other staff to identify outside lab contracting needs, develop appropriate documents, assure proper legal review, and proactively manage contract renewals.

  • Prepare and monitor the budgets on a regular basis. Assist in preparation of VRD Operating, Capital, and Serology budgets.

  • Manage oversight of all contract workers within supporting VRD groups. Insure all contractor workers meet Pfizer requirements.

  • Coordinate the management of the stockroom functions supporting the VRD Pearl River groups.

  • Provide support for VRD and Pearl River site functions and events.

  • This role will have managerial responsibility for at least one FTE.

QUALIFICATIONSBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.A. or B.S., or equivalent work experience

  • 10 or more years of procurement related experience

  • Experience working in an operational support function

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Vaccine Research & Development


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standard office environment, with the individual co-located in open space or workstation with other staff and scientists.

  • Occasional access to laboratory which will require appropriate EHS training be completed.

  • No significant physical requirements except significant amounts of computer/keyboard and phone use.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel may be required to engage with peers at other VRD sites
