Director, Parkinson's Disease Commercial Operations, Global Marketing

Overview

Reporting to the General Manager, Neuroscience - Parkinson's Disease, Global Marketing, this position is responsible for leading the development of specific parts of the global integrated brand strategy for AbbVie's Parkinson's Disease assets as well as being an active contributor to the full continuous one integrated brand plan. This position is also accountable for leading cross-functional development of strategic initiatives and tactics by gaining alignment at the Global, Area, and Country/Affiliate level - including strategies related to HCP promotion and in-field team excellence. This position will engage, and in specific cases, lead a cross-functional team, which includes but is not limited to: Market Access, Medical Affairs, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Supply Chain, Health Economics and Outcome Research, GCD, R&D, Public Affairs, Medical Review, Business Intelligence, OEC, and Learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for PD commercial operations vision, strategies, plans and resource investment for the franchise.
  • Develop and articulate effective commercial initiatives that are impactful, executable, easily communicated, and clinically/financially supported for areas of responsibility.
  • Establish comprehensive annual PD - Commercial Operations objectives and metrics.
  • Leads or is an active collaborator in the development and execution of the 1-year functional and tactical plan (including routine assessment and analytics of the evolving competitive landscape).
  • Leading or actively participating in cross-functional teams (eg Asset Strategy and Life Cycle Management Teams) in order to create or identify commercial opportunities that advance efforts towards the brand objectives and goals.
  • Support partners in Global Customer Excellence to develop Patient Support and In-Field Team framework and materials in a “plug and play” format so that they may be compliantly used in the most effective channels in each market.
  • Support the strategic direction, creation, and delivery of adaptable and compliant content for the affiliates to conduct local educational meetings with HCPs and other relevant external stakeholders.
  • Identify and liaise with relevant Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to gain scientific and clinical input into development of promotional materials and event agendas.
  • Partner with brand marketing teams to ensure customer experience operations are aligned to stretegic marketing initiatives to create customer-focused operational efficiencies that maximize patient acquisition and retention.
  • Responsible for liasing with Operations to meet timelines for the manufacturing and approvals of the pumps and ancilliaries related to the PD assets.
  • Coordinate regularly with Global Brand Team Leads to ensure alignment with overall brand strategy for the respective assets while identifying areas of synergy between them.
  • Ensure consistency in development and implementation of promotional and educational strategy framework including tools and resources across the PD portfolio. Drive development and utilization of these resources across the Areas and Affiliates.
  • Continually evaluate and apply KPIs on effectiveness (share impact/ROI) and efficiency (expense control) of market growth strategy and tactics.
  • Maintains an in depth understanding of PD assets and a broad knowledge of relevant competitor products.
  • Demonstrate organizational savvy and knowledge of various stakeholders interfacing with Global Marketing. Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders. Communicate effectively with all levels of management, particularly senior leaders, in a highly professional manner.
  • Lead, develop, and coach direct reports. Participate in all employee management responsibilties.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience – Sales, Marketing, Business Unit/Affiliate leadership, Market Access, Patient Experience, Neuroscience or other relevant experience that complements the role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree (e.g. MBA, MD, PharmD) preferred.
  • Competent in integrated brand planning models.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency of the whole and the component parts of the Marketing skills framework: Insights, Segmentation, Positioning, Value Proposition, Business Model Innovation, Creative Development, and Investment Optimization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand medical/clinical aspects of a pharmaceutical product and its application to marketing strategy.
  • Must have strong leadership skills (cross-functional and people management), positive attitude, strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent planning and organization skills to support brand objectives.
  • Proven track record of effectively leading or working in cross-functional teams and matrix environments, as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with, motivate and influence various levels within and outside of the organization.
  • English fluency, both verbal and written.
  • Able and willing to travel (30%-50% of time).
  • Successful candidate to be based in North Chicago area.
