Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, US Market Access, the MAD will collaborate across departments as an integral part of the Market Access team, dedicated to the pre-launch and at launch and life cycle management of Sierra’s portfolio of products in the US. The MAD is a field-based role accountable for developing and enriching partnerships with assigned National and Regional Health Plans, Medicare Part D Plans, Pharmacy Benefit Manager’s (PBM’s), Medicaid (State Fee-For-Service and Managed), Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO’s), select Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN’s), and the VA/DOD. The primary responsibility for the MAD is to secure unfettered access and formulary position for the Sierra Oncology portfolio of products.

 

Responsibilities

  • Secure Medical/Pharmacy policy, prior authorization criteria, and reauthorization criteria consistent with FDA label resulting in a path to patient care for Sierra Oncology products
  • Thorough communication and collaboration with Patient Services & Channel Management to ensure constant exchange of payer policy information to expedite the Script to Ship process and accelerate the denial and appeal process
  • Demonstrate Market Access Knowledge in partnering with Field Sales, Marketing, Field Medical, Commercial Analytics, Patient Advocacy and Evidence Generation, colleagues to ensure the overall patient access approach meets the needs of patients in the current market environment cross functional support
  • Adhere to and effectively communicate and collaborate on contract strategy, contract compliance, execution and ongoing tracking and management of contracts for our targeted payers including ROI assessments and scenario planning
  • Accountable for primary responsibility in assigned GPOs and payer owned specialty pharmacies in the designated MAD region
  • Translate our Market Access strategy into Momelotinib pull through opportunities in collaboration with their Field Sales team
  • Support identification and development of regional and national payer KOL’s in collaboration with Field Medical, Marketing, Sales and Market Access colleagues to remove payer policy criteria that is inconsistent with FDA label
  • Proactively reports on local, state, regional, national issues and their potential impact on Market Access strategy, initiatives, and opportunities
  • Creation of Payer development tools such as Business plans, Quarterly Business Reviews, Contract Analysis to maximize opportunities for Sierra Oncology
  • Leverage attendance at Market Access Conferences
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced or Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of Managed Care Experience, 5+ years working in National Accounts and actionable relationships with assigned National Accounts
  • Comprehensive understanding of process for Medicare Part D Plans and the contracting timing for formulary inclusion of Medicare Part D therapies
  • Sustained history of building relationships and account penetration with Medical Directors, Pharmacy Directors, Clinical Pharmacy Directors, and other key players
  • Rare and specialty therapy launch experience, oral oncology experience preferred
  • Consummate professional and a team player with a penchant for working cross-functionally with all internal Sierra Oncology stakeholders
  • Ability to travel 60% or more (consistent with Covid-19 policy)

Preferred Requirements

  • Therapeutic category experience in Oncology, Hematology Oncology, Rare Disease or Specialty Products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision making process for P&T, formulary, medical policy, prior authorization (PA) and re-authorization criteria
  • Prior track record of obtaining optimal, profitable access and/or removing access barriers within large National Accounts
  • Extensive understanding of the coding, billing, and reimbursement methods
  • Anticipates potential access threats and responds quickly to implement solutions
  • Experience in negotiating contracts such as Value Based Agreements (VBA’s)
  • Superior project management skills and prioritize tasks and workflows
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders' appropriately and effectively
  • Exhibits keen understanding of products that go through specialty distributors (SD), specialty pharmacies (SP), and group purchasing organizations (GPO’s)
  • Experience with high-value therapies that address unmet clinical need
