We are seeking a talented, creative Research Associate to join Regeneron’s Auditory research team. The individual will be involved in basic research studies designed to understand and treat the biology behind various forms of deafness and hearing impairment. The group is working towards genetic therapies to treat these disorders.

 

In this role, a typical day may include: 

  • Conducting basic and advanced molecular biology techniques, including DNA, RNA and protein extraction and purification, cloning of cDNAs, CRISPR-associated technologies for in vitro applications, and quantitative PCR.  

  • Routine culture of mammalian cells. 

  • Performing microscopy, specifically brightfield and confocal microscopy, including methods of analysis and quantification.  

  • Dissections of the inner ear and preparation of tissues for analysis.

  • Presentations of data and participate in group discussions in our collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have a B.S. and 0-4 years of relevant experience. Experience working with mammalian cell culture is preferred. Familiarity with DNA, RNA and protein extraction and subsequent molecular analyses is preferred. Familiarity with software and programs associated with job functions, including Microsoft Office, Prism, ImageJ or other image analysis platform, DNA analysis software, publicly available online resources including the UCSC Genome Browser, OMIM and UniProt. We are willing to teach methods of molecular biology, advanced cell culture, microscopy, biochemistry, histology, tissue preparation, cell culture, primary culture and in vitro assays. Maintenance of accurate, up-to-date electronic lab records and organizational skills are required. Work with animals may be required.
