The Opportunity
The heart of insitro’s strategy is the development of novel, cutting-edge methods in machine learning and high-throughput biology to address key bottlenecks in the drug development pipeline. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will work to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for high-throughput biology protocols and workflows. You will collaborate with scientists and automation engineers to develop, transfer and validate manual process steps to automated liquid handling and integrated systems. You will work with system integrators on the design, implementation and support of high-throughput automated platforms. You will also be responsible for assessing the efficiency and quality of operations to prioritize process improvements and optimizations. In addition, you will help to mentor automation engineers with the implementation of a wide range of technologies, experiment designs and the use of systems engineering best practices.

About You
- B.S, M.S, or Ph.D. in science, engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in academia or in industry
- Significant experience in developing, optimizing and managing protocol methods on liquid handlers and integrated systems
- Experience working with vendors to make modifications to existing software and hardware to enable expanded usage and new features for the multiple integrated systems
- Demonstrated track record integrating assays and automation into efficient processes and workflows
- Expertise in creating process diagrams, system requirements, technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Experience in developing and optimizing new workflows in collaboration with scientists
- Experience with integrating equipment data with LIMS tools
- Excellent communication and organizational skills 
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with molecular biology and cell culture workflows  


Nice to Have
- Competent programming methods on either Hamilton, Agilent and HighRes Biosolutions liquid handlers
- Competent using programming languages such as Python or C#
- Experience working with automating high-throughput screening workflows
-Experience working with automated iPSC cell culture systems
