Exciting opportunity for experienced individual to join the team at Adaptive Phage Therapeutics (APT). APT is a clinical-stage biotech company advancing therapies to treat multi-drug resistant infections. APT is seeking a highly motivated individual skilled in a broad range of wet bench microbiology and molecular biology techniques with expertise in viral/bacteriophage biology, genomics and NGS sequencing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently performing assays in a fast paced and energetic environment under supervision of the Associate Director of Molecular Assays & Testing within the Quality Group.

  • Development, optimization and implementation of an appropriate and controlled DNA extraction and sequencing pipeline.
  • NGS library prep and operation of Illumina sequencers. Experience with Oxford Nanopore a plus.
  • Conduct a range of molecular QC tests which may include 16S PCR, restriction digests, qPCR, nucleic acid quantitation and quality assessments.
  • Experience with tech transfer of manual protocols to various scalable and automated formats/platforms.
  • Primary QC analysis of sequencing data using basic bioinformatic tools.
  • Develop/execute/document procedures for production and quality control of genome data in a regulated environment.
  • Support QA management in the establishment, writing, editing and implementation of formal SOPs, forms, deviations and other required documents in accordance with cGMP.
  • Coordinate and present data to internal stakeholders and external business partners.
  • Troubleshoot issues relating to both existing and new laboratory techniques and provide feedback and potential solutions to senior leadership.
  • Excellent pipetting and multi-channel pipetting skills required
  • Programming/scripting/database experience a plus (LIMS, Python, unix, SQL, others)
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years' laboratory experience
  • Basic knowledge of general laboratory techniques and proficiency with commonly used equipment
  • Basic subject matter knowledge in microbiology, biology, chemistry, biotechnology, genetics and genomics
  • Combination of QA and QC or manufacturing experience a plus
