National Account Manager, Payer Access

West Region

 

 

The National Account Manager, Payer Access, is a field-based position, reporting to the Director of Payer Access.  You will be responsible for managing and leading all Omeros efforts within your targeted accounts.  Key attributes for success will include a clinical focus with payers, having a strong business acumen and building upon existing relationships with National, Regional and Specialty accounts. 

You will develop targeted business plans for key accounts and work closely with Sales leadership on how to maximize sales and improve product access for prescribers.  A success factor will be to create access for Omeros products by understanding and addressing reimbursement issues which lead to a positive work solution that supports our sales efforts and ultimately the prescribers and patients.  The position requires extensive knowledge of “buy and bill” products on the medical benefit for utilization within Ambulatory Surgery Centers and inpatient hospital settings.  As our ideal candidate, you have relationships with the payer community and understand how to navigate within the health plans. This position requires a professional who has a strong work ethic, is a leader and acts with a sense of urgency.

This position will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Medical Affairs and ensure timely information is shared.  The National Account Manager position is expected to be an expert in the healthcare/reimbursement landscape and be up to speed on the latest industry trends and news.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with accounts to ensure clinical education and targeted access for reimbursement of Omeros products
  • Responsible for developing and executing on your account plans that will achieve favorable product access with a maximum return on investment
  • Lead and facilitate all account interactions; be the point person to continuously move the account forward
  • Ability to convey clinical, economic and patient value of Omeros products to key payer stakeholders
  • Be the account expert on the health plan benefit designs, reimbursement and key contacts with assigned accounts
  • Collaborate with payer’s pharmacy and medical policy teams to ensure appropriate access to Omeros products
  • Proactively address challenges and issues with accounts; bring together the necessary help/resources to correct the problem
  • Operates within corporate guidelines on policies and compliance rules
  • Forward thinking on innovative payer access strategies
  • Meets all timelines and requirements for administrative assignments and necessary reporting functions
  • Participates, as appropriate, in company meetings, conference calls and other business settings

 

Education, Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales/marketing
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in reimbursement/payer access
  • Experience in contract modeling that demonstrates corporate financial stewardship
  • Strong background for products on the medical benefit and how that impacts reimbursement by different payer types. (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Understanding of the National and Local Medicare Administrators with existing relationships preferred.
  • Existing relationships with Medicare Advantage plans
  • Forward thinking on innovative payer access strategies
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with both internal and external customers that results in a profitable outcome.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing to promote product growth

Other Requirements:

  • Travel up to 50%
