This position is a team leader with a focus on production processes and leading a team designed to

enhance effectiveness and drive continuous improvement of production operations.

The scope of the position includes a number of direct reports (10-30) of several different job titles, with responsibilities for 24x7 operation of the sterile inspection department.  Key accountabilities include day-to-day management of the shop floor schedule, ensuring all processes are completed in a manner meeting safety and quality requirements, and supporting/driving process improvement initiatives.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Manage multiple projects within the department typically involving cross-functional representatives.
  • Provide solutions to a wide range of difficult/complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity, innovation, and creativity.
  • Ensure {Current} Good Manufacturing Practices {part of GxP} and Good Distribution Practices {part of GxP} in day to day operations.
  • Manage staff involved with the production or completion of process in compliance with all regulatory requirements, cGMPs and company policies, procedures and goals.
  • Manage multiple projects and ongoing work activities within the department typically involving cross-functional representatives.
  • Work closely with quality, production, procurement, suppliers and forwarding agents to ensure supply continuity.
  • Interact with senior internal and external personnel on matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Lead or oversee investigations and continuous improvement initiatives, applying tools, to improve quality, cost, safety and/or cycle time.
  • Ensure audit readiness and prepare monthly report of production activities including trend analysis and the system health.
  • Guide, monitor and develop team to foster continuous improvement and set realistic objectives.
  • Execute product quality/production performance on time and within budget.
  • Develop a high level of performance improvement through effective people management and the development of a multi-skilled work force.

Role Responsibilities:  

The TL/Mgr, Process Centric Team (PCT) Leader – Covid Vx Team Lightspeed position is responsible for leadership of a sterile inspection, packaging, and freeze handling organization that supports vaccine injectable products.  In addition to shift responsibilities, the PCT Leader will be responsible for oversite of the PCT team as well as driving and sustain robust IMEx processes across the Inspection, Packaging and Freezer Team areas.  Responsible for effective leadership of work team which includes: managing the daily operation ensuring that applicable safety guidelines and policies are followed; observing that cGMP’s are followed, production SOP’s are upheld, and production schedules are met. The supervisor will work with the team to define metrics and strategy to achieve results.  Responsible for assisting in the implementation of lean management principles on the shop floor. The PCT Lead will act as coach and mentor to transform team into a cohesive, harmonized team. Responsible for counseling colleagues to assure proper development for their success, supporting all colleagues to enable them to reach their full potential, and to provide corrective action when necessary. The PCT Lead is also responsible to ensure timely performance feedback and appraisals for all team members. The PCT Lead has responsibility to deliver results from a work team thatspans three shifts. The position will be based on first shift, but will be expected to spend sufficient time with the other shifts, and with supervisors and Production Leads on the other shifts, to successfully carry out the job requirements, and will backfill for offshift Team Leads while they are out of the office for extended periods of time. Successful candidate must demonstrate personal leadership initiative, judgment and accountability in day-to-day work activities in addition to strong planning/organizational skills. Must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate integrity and cooperation in working with diverse colleagues/groups. Strong technical skills desired.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and lead project teams
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and provide technical leadership while working remotely
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate must possess flexibility to respond to constantly changing conditions and priorities. 

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree
  • Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • A strong personal motivation and aptitude for coaching, leading and managing individuals and teams. 
  • An aptitude for understanding process technology and equipment, proven leadership ability, decision making ability, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Job will include standing, walking, and sitting.  Occasional lifting may be required.  Job will also entail occasional weekend, shutdown and holiday coverage.
