Scientist - Formulation Development (Lipid Nanoparticle)

We are seeking a Scientist in the New Technology Group within the Formulation Development Group (FDG) of Regeneron Pharmaceutical Inc. (Tarrytown, NY). In this exciting new role, you will build capabilities for lipid nanoparticle-based delivery platforms within FDG and drive the development of therapeutic modalities with focus on (but not limited to) RNA-based therapeutics. 

A Typical Day in the Role Might Look Like:

• Design and execution of experiments to evaluate and characterize novel formulations/processes & components, delivery technologies & analytical tools in support of diverse therapeutic modalities including (but not limited to) RNA-based therapeutics & nanoparticle modalities. 
• Build formulation capabilities for lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) in the Formulation Development Group (FDG) that would be used as a platform to deliver CRISPR/Cas9 and mRNA therapeutics. 
• Provide technical representation in cross functional investigations for RNA- and nanoparticle-based modality formulation and processes.
• Design and execute robust and effective experimentation and evaluate, acquire and operate new equipment to manufacture LNPs & RNA-based therapeutics for evaluating stability and supplying preclinical animal studies.
• Execute creation and implementation of project plans supported by strong scientific rationales and technical approaches, while cognizant of project priorities, milestone deliverables (e.g. memos, reports) and timelines. 
• Will ensure strong strategic teamwork & communication with colleagues from Velocigene, Therapeutic Focus Areas, Research groups, Pre-clinical toxicology, Drug Product & Drug Substance Manufacturing, Project Management, Regulatory Sciences, Quality, Business Development, Finance and Marketing.
• Will demonstrate scientific excellence through reports, publications and patents. Will be proactive in generating IP and related documentation and optimally collaborate with Regeneron’s patent teams.

• You are capable of multi-tasking, working both independently and within a team environment.

Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related field with a strong background in nanoparticle-based formulation development & analytical characterization. Relevant industrial experience (up to 2 years) is desired. Experience in nucleic acid drug development (DNA, RNA, oligonucleotides) and/or nanoparticle delivery technologies is required. Experience in general biologics product development including understanding of formulation, process and characterization fundamentals across various modalities (e.g. mAbs, fusion proteins,) and delivery forms (e.g. depots, implants, pumps) is desired. Consistent record in a variety of analytical techniques preferred. Experience in developing relationships with R&D teams, external vendors, CROs, academic institutions and scientific leaders a plus.
