Scientist/Senior Scientist - Pharmacology
Summary
The Pharmacology team is seeking a highly motivated in vivo biologist to work closely with colleagues within the organization to discover and develop new therapies for various disease areas, with a primary focus on cancer. The successful applicant will provide in vitro pharmacology leadership on multidisciplinary drug discovery teams. Interact closely with cross-functional groups, including biology, chemistry & DMPK to establish PK/PD relationships and disease-modifying efficacy for the preclinical therapeutic candidates.
Responsibilities
- Manage rodent PK, PK/PD and TK studies, including protocol development, dose level and dose regimen recommendations to characterize drug profile for therapeutic candidates.
- Perform xenograft, syngeneic and orthotopic tumor studies to test efficacy, pharmacology, and mechanism of action of anticancer therapeutics.
- Establish novel murine models for both oncology and inflammation
- Conduct a wide range of biological and molecular assays including, but not limited to: Flow Cytometry, RT-PCR, Western blotting and ELISAs.
- Manage/mentor junior research associates
- Partners with project team leaders to plan, coordinate, and monitor the timely execution and completion of various research projects.
- Oversees the maintenance of accurate, comprehensible, and current laboratory notebooks.
Qualifications
- A solid understanding of fundamental PK and quantitative pharmacology (PK/PD) principles with demonstrable experience in application of pharmacology methodologies in a drug R&D context.
- Demonstrated experience in both oncology and inflammation therapeutic areas.
- At least 7-10 years of hands-on experience designing and running in vivo models.
- Expertise in handling and dosing mice, including intravenous, intraperitoneal, and oral gavage administration.
- Proficient in blood collection (cardiac, RO, Submandibular) and tissue collection/necropsy
- Hands-on experience with various in vitro laboratory techniques, including multi-color flow cytometry, Western blot, qRT-PCR, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry is strongly preferred.
- Experience with data capturing and analysis software (i.e. electronic notebook, StudyLog, PRISM, Excel).
- Ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives
- Comfort with rapidly shifting goals as well as organizational change and evolution
