What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will, under general supervision, perform intermediate maintenance activities assigned to manufacturing and support of equipment according with established guidelines and operating procedures. Conduct basic troubleshooting and employ basic predictive technologies to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions for equipment problems or to diagnose equipment problems. This role will support Drug Product - AML 14 organization, following GMP's regulations, Amgens policies and SOPs and supporting a Non-Standard Shift structure.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Complete maintenance activities, or operate and monitor sophisticated Formulation and Filling, with ability to investigate issues or problems referring them to more experienced personnel.
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting and repair of Manufacturing equipment such as Vial and syringe filler, autoclaves, washers portable tanks and another manufacturing equipment or system.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/systems the team is responsible for.
  • Perform various "Housekeeping" activities, (i.e., keeping work areas clean, cleaning of equipment etc.).
  • Ensure that operational log paperwork, daily log files and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Provide detailed training program in order to develop one's knowledge in the maintenance and operations field and other areas of the plant.
  • All work must be completed according with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, job plans and Amgen policies.
  • Maintain an up-to-date cGMP training book.
  • Develop, revise and review related SOPs or job/work plans for work related areas.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the current maintenance procedures and recommend changes to optimize the program.
  • Plan and schedule own work activities with operations staff to minimize impact to production activities.
  • Provide basic support of start-up to new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design specifications.
  • Develop a basic proficiency in one or more sophisticated maintenance technology and understand how to apply technology to improve equipment reliability (alignment, balancing, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, electric motor circuit analysis, metrology or vibration monitoring).

The Basic Qualifications are:

Associate degree and 2 years of Maintenance experience

Or

High school and 4 years of Maintenance experience.

Beyond that, the additional preferred qualifications are:
  • Knowledge of different types of sensors or electronic units.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Operational knowledge of electrical / mechanical units and ability to perform simple troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Familiarity with basic Cleanroom, Fume Hood, Biological Safety Cabinet, and Unidirectional Flow Hood systems.
  • Basic knowledge working in aseptic rooms or isolators.
  • Knowledgeable of one or more of the following technical areas: Manufacturing Equipment Operations/ Maintenance, Process Equipment/ System Maintenance, CIP/SIP Operations/ Maintenance.
  • Experience working in a GMP environment.
  • Machine Shop and welding experience.
  • Good Communication Skills both verbal and written.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams.
  • Reading/Writing skills to perform and detail maintenance operations.
  • Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
