COVID19 Principal/Senior Medical Scientist

Territory: Preferably candidate is located in TX (Dallas), MN, OK, KS, or NE.

The field-based MS will join a team of medical scientists, reporting to the senior director. He/she will disseminate clinical information about Gilead's innovative products and disease states of interest to thought-leaders, academic institutions, centers of excellence, community health centers and professional organizations.

Job Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Relays medical information to opinion leaders within a specified region. Interacts and supports customers with medical questions by having scientific discussions or attending medical meetings.
  • Works on special projects that are of smaller scope or supports larger projects.
  • Engages Health Care Providers in one-on-one interactions focused on providing scientific data.
  • Keeps the patient at the center of all our efforts and seeks opportunities to support clinicians, advocacy groups, community health leaders and community trusted advisors in their efforts to empower patients
  • Demonstrates leadership, self-initiation and success in support of larger projects.
  • Develops a national network of opinion leaders by building credibility, recognizes issues and trends that may impact the success of their role. Identifies and develops regional and national opinion leaders to support Gilead products and trains Gilead approved speakers through personal contacts and on-site visits. Establishes strong relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators and providers at academic and non-academic settings.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently and good business acumen, responds to clinical inquiries regarding marketed or developmental Gilead products.
  • Provides sales force with training at national and regional levels.
  • Works on Gilead Phase IV program that includes collaboration with investigators and internal Gilead personnel and recommends sites for both Phase IV and other clinical trials.
  • The Senior/Principal MS works collaboratively with Gilead personnel in Sales, Marketing, Clinical Research, Global Safety and Medical Communication.
  • Utilizes scientific resources to deliver impactful presentations in a variety of different settings.


Other Skills/Requirements
  • The Senior/Principal MS travels to appointments, meetings and conferences on a frequent and regular basis, occasionally with short notice.
  • Must be skilled with the use of virtual meeting platforms to deliver impactful presentations and conduct effective HCP discussions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • The Senior/Principal MS must be fully cognizant of all relevant complex scientific data. Must also be cognizant of complex regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.
  • Must be committed to continuing education to maintain knowledge base.
  • Others both from within and outside Gilead seek the Senior/Principal MS out for advice and collaboration.
  • Must have the ability to work as a member of several teams that may overlap such as national MS team, regional sales team, national accounts, and others.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing disease landscape and flexibility to changing priorities which may occur frequently
  • Complies with all Business Conduct guidance
  • Embodies the Gilead Core Values and Leadership Principals

Education and Experience:
  • Advanced degree (i.e. MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP/PA) required with a minimum of 2 years of clinical and/or industry experience
  • Clinical practice experience within therapeutic area of interest (COVID19, virology) is desirable, but not required.
  • Industry experience desirable.
  • Well-developed experience in preparing and delivering presentations is required.
  • Experience in the management or investigation of clinical trials is required.
  • Clinical patient contact experience is required
