Research Assistant I

Brief Description of Position:

The Research Assistant is primarily responsible for helping scientists in the lab by preparing and performing cellular and molecular biology experiments. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cell line maintenance and preparation, proliferation assays, killing assays, western blots, qPCR, primary cell culture, media preparation, and general lab maintenance.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

• Science – B.S. in molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology or equivalent. Experience (1-2 years) with handling of primary cells, cell lines, and biological samples are strongly desired, along with knowledge of mammalian systems
• Effective and respectful communication
• Basic skills for working in a cellular and molecular biology lab
• Willing to learn new skills and techniques while applying current skills to lab tasks

Other Desirable Characteristics and Attributes:

• Highly motivated self-starter who can prioritize and take ownership of tasks
• Excited to be “hands-on” in the lab and learning data analysis and presentation
• Must be comfortable in a rapidly growing and evolving start-up environment
