Novartis Gene Therapies (GTx) is seeking a highly motivated, communication savvy and ambitious advocacy intern to work alongside the GTx Patient Advocacy and Government Affairs team.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about patient engagement principles, objectives, and metrics in a fast-paced, agile work environment
  • Independently complete various assignments in support of the patient advocacy team goals, including but not limited to:
    • Conduct desk research on rare disease organizations, programs and events
    • Present organized output of desk research, identifying key opportunities
    • Create presentations (PowerPoint), project manage timelines and contact lists (excel)
    • Draft internal and external communications (emails, social media posts, planning documents)
    • Digest dialogue, take and summarize meaningful meeting notes which demonstrate understanding of the content and call out key action items
  • Support the full US Patient Advocacy and Government Affairs team, with direct mentorship from Susan Brisendine, Director, U.S. Advocacy Excellence & Operations

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of a bachelor's degree program with a focus in Communications, Public Relations, English, Political Science, Marketing or a related major
  • Completed at least two years of college education before beginning the internship.
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following the internship.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during 8am-5pm central time
  • Intern must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Program will last 12 weeks from May to August

  • Demonstrate proficiency in working with MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Exhibits organization and multitasking skills
  • Self-starter with good interpersonal and communication skills who can work both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrates ability to work well under tight deadlines
  • Refers to policies and practices for guidance on complex issues
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Self- starter who can take initiative within job scope
  • Understands and resolves complex problems while paying close attention to details

 

The level of this position will be based on the final candidate's qualifications.
