ROLE SUMMARY

State of Michigan Journeyman license, Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of electrical systems and equipment in a cost effective manner. Regularly maintains high‑voltage substations / switchgear / Power Logic systems / motors, explosion‑proof and intrinsically‑safe electrical systems, variable frequency drives, process logic controllers, generators / uninterruptible power systems, building control systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and a wide variety of AC/DC industrial electrical applications. (role‑specific).

Potential for exposure to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in‑motion, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting. The proper use of the correct Personal Protective Equipment for each task as well as compliance with all applicable safety Standard Procedures is a must. May work variable shifts and 24‑hour on‑call as required. Participates in multi-craft work activities as required. (EMU‑craft‑generic)

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

A Journeyman Maintenance Electrician working within the Reliability Maintenance environment, within DP and API Operations and Utilities environment, performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, and maintains company power distribution systems and equipment and provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations, some of which are located in and/or support production areas. The Maintenance Electrician also provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). Can serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up). Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost effective manner.

Heavy emphasis on NEC, Industrial 3 phase systems, medium voltage distribution, Power logic systems, control systems, and hazardous classified locations, as this position primarily supports Electrical distribution for Utilities and DP / API Manufacturing for the Kalamazoo plant.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma / general education degree (GED) plus either an Associate’s degree or relevant trade school equivalency.

  • State of Michigan Electrical Journeyman’s License OR completion of journeyman program

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently

  • Excellent computer user skills are required (Microsoft systems).

  • Excellent communications Skills

  • Strong work ethic and the ambition to be the best.

Preferred Qualifications

  • (3) years actual, practical working experience as a journeyman electrician in the industrial/commercial electrical equipment service industry. 

  • Blue print reading a plus

  • Electrical diagram reading a plus

  • Medium voltage experience preferred

  • Knowledge of Power Logic systems a plus

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Potential 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts needed.

Weekend, holiday, and overtime may be required to meet business or customer needs.  This operation will work 24x7x365
