Job Details

Recursion is a clinical-stage biotechnology company decoding biology by integrating technological innovations across biology, chemistry, automation, data science and engineering to radically improve the lives of patients and industrialize drug discovery. Our team is working to solve some of the hardest, most meaningful problems facing human health today. Come join us in our mission to decode biology to radically improve lives, while doing the most impactful work of your life.

The Impact You’ll Make

You will be at the forefront of reimagining small molecule discovery from first principles using Recursion's massive data capabilities. Recursion scientists in computational biology lead multiple computational and/or therapeutics projects from launch to preclinical development to bring life-changing therapeutics to patients.

  • Discover and develop new analytical workflows enabled by Recursion's unique capacity to perform >1 million experiments per week. In close collaboration with machine learning, data science, and biology colleagues, leverage Recursion data for target ID, program nomination, and biomarker development for novel therapeutics for Fibrotic and Cardiometabolic indications
  • Deliver new computational approaches and therapeutic programs into Recursion's pipeline. Iterate quickly to move from ideation to validation on multiple projects at an accelerated pace
  • Synthesize diverse datasets to derive biological insights and generate programs from Recursion's phenomics data. Strategically design experiments and define novel datasets that will advance our capabilities and answer critical questions for drug discovery
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Recursion's data science and machine learning teams to further advance Recursion's ability to interpret and translate large-scale phenomics data into therapeutic programs

The Team You’ll Join

We are building diverse and collaborative drug discovery teams that are data-driven from the ground up. Our group is a bold, agile, interdisciplinary collective of biological, computational, drug discovery, and machine learning scientists deeply focused on the singular goal of bringing new therapeutics to patients at an accelerated pace. Reporting to the Senior Director, Translational Biology, you will lead project strategy and execution within a small group of project leaders, and collaborate extensively with data scientists, chemists, engineers, commercial strategists, and biologists throughout the organization to advance milestones and provide insights to advance Recursion's capabilities. Essential attributes to this role include a bold, execution-first attitude and passion for deploying rigorous science to bring life-changing therapies to patients.

The Experience You’ll Need

Scientist, Computational Biology

  • Experience applying computational methods, including probabilistic, statistical, or machine learning analysis of biological and/or human clinical data (PhD or equivalent experience)
  • Data visualization skills
  • Background in fibrosis, immunology, cellular biology, and/or cardio/metabolism
  • Experience and familiarity working with multimodal biological datasets of relevance to drug discovery
  • Fluency and experience working with high-level programming language such as Python or R for complex data analysis
  • Experience prioritizing multiple projects through proof of concept to preclinical

Senior Scientist, Computational Biology

  • 3+ years experience applying professional competencies to fundamental problems of relevance to drug discovery or experience in biopharma industry setting (domain specific experience in other areas of biology will be considered, as well); PhD preferred
  • General understanding of small molecule drug discovery and pharmacology

Principal Scientist, Computational Biology

  • 5+ years experience applying professional competencies to fundamental problems of relevance to drug discovery or experience in biopharma industry setting (domain specific experience in other areas of biology will be considered, as well); PhD preferred
  • Understanding of current state of therapeutic development and ability to drive scientific strategy
