Summary

 

The Facilities Specialist provides facilities and maintenance support for all office, lab and utility environments within Precision BioSciences. The role of the Facilities Specialist is to execute corrective and preventative maintenance (PM) of building systems, equipment and utility infrastructure and respond to emergency maintenance issues. The Facilities Specialist will report to the Facilities Manager and work closely with the IT, Laboratory Operations, and the Facilities team to help ensure smooth operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and act as escalation point for all aspects of facility operations with an emphasis on driving efficiency and consistency in functions and processes at all locations
  • Maintain all new and existing utilities equipment and site electrical infrastructure for the sites existing laboratories and administration buildings
  • Supervise utility suppliers/contractors to ensure that all maintenance work is completed and documented in accordance with the contract, regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Generate and implement Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance program for the sites’ utilities
  • Assist with scheduling and performing planned and unplanned maintenance activities for all sites
  • Document all maintenance activities in accordance with company requirements
  • Liaise with all departments concerning maintenance matters including implementation of project management needs
  • Stay current with emerging facilities technologies and practices and champion opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, performance, and/or cost structure
  • Must be willing to be on call on a rotating basis for non-business hours, holidays, and weekends

 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

 

Required:

  • High School Diploma and a 3+ years of facilities experience in an administration building with the ability to support laboratory operations or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management
  • Demonstrated experience with project management principles and systems including scoping, estimating, planning, budgeting, controlling, implementing, and change management
  • Demonstrated experience with maintenance and operation of mission critical infrastructure and utilities systems experience
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards /practices in the Facilities Maintenance arena; extensive experience and knowledge of building maintenance and repairs, and crafts including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, fire/life safety systems, general maintenance and labor, etc.
  • Experience with Planning/Scheduling and work controls methodologies into maintenance organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PPT)

 

Preferred:

  • BA/BS in Engineering or Maintenance Services Management or similar education from accredited university
  • Facilities related certifications from industry recognized organization (i.e. APPA, BOMI, IFM, IREM) and /or industry designation/certification (i.e.: BCM, CEM, CPM, FMA, RPA)
  • GMP knowledge

  • No travel is expected for this position.

  • This is an office-based position located at the main headquarters in downtown Durham, NC and will also support our manufacturing site in RTP.
