Job Details

Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

In this role, you will join the LNP Process Sciences group, where we develop lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations to deliver curative CRISPR gene editing therapeutics. This role is a lab-based role: you will be responsible for designing and executing process development experiments to develop and fully characterize lipid nanoparticle formulation processes. You will be asked to interact with internal and external groups to produce and supply formulations for pre-clinical studies. You will develop skills in writing and reviewing protocols and process development reports to support clinical manufacturing. We seek your creativity in branching out into advanced characterization of the LNP formulations. This role presents a unique opportunity to explore, develop, and scale up a novel drug product process in collaboration with a team of experts in lipid nanoparticle formulation.

About You:

We are seeking a highly motivated and curious scientist with strong problem-solving skills. Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences with 5-8 years of industry experience or M.S. in Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences with 2-5 years of industry experience. If you describe yourself as a great team player who wants to have fun and grow with us, we encourage you to apply! Other desired skills include:

  • Experience designing, executing, and analyzing particle-based drug delivery systems

  • Preferably has prior experience with LNP formulations with nucleic acids

  • Preferably has prior experience working with a frozen or lyophilized particle-based drug product.

  • Proficiency with a broad spectrum of analytical techniques applicable to nucleic acid drug delivery systems (i.e. particle size, fluorescent assays, HPLC/UPLC, etc).

  • Demonstrates creativity and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter who continuously seeks to improve existing laboratory methods and processes.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Meet your future team:

The LNP Process Sciences team are a group of highly skilled, energetic group of scientists and engineers who are excited about bringing potentially curative therapeutics to the world. Our team works across a wide range of disease areas, and the highly dynamic and collaborative nature of our work provides the opportunity to really see the full breadth of Intellia’s cutting edge gene therapy technology. Your future hiring manager is a Senior Principal Scientist in LNP Process Sciences and has been with Intellia since Mar. 2017.  He has worked on LNPs for over 12 years and currently works for several programs and collaborates with colleagues across both Research and Development. Your future team helps drive technology from research all the way to the clinic, which is a great way to become an expert in the formulation field. Apply today to join our team—we look forward to learning from you and working together!

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
