Director, Digital Health Innovation

General Scope and Summary

The Digital Innovation team sits in the Digital and Enterprise Capabilities group and is responsible for driving the definition, evaluation, experimentation, and scale-up of leading-edge digital innovation across the company. The Director, Digital Innovation will be responsible for driving digital innovation for the Neurology and Neuropsychiatry franchises from clinical into commercial, helping bring solutions to market that will enable people with brain health disorders to live better days.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Drive digital programs from ideation to launch, including the evaluation, alignment, and development of digital health, digital innovation, and digital experience programs across the Neurology and Neuropsychiatry franchises.

• Develop an integrated, synergistic strategy for digital health and innovation programs that ladders from asset, to indication, to platform.

• As the digital subject matter expert on Sage program teams, partner closely across the business to define challenges, solutions, business cases, and execution plans to deliver on aligned objectives.

• Work with program teams to lead activities such as technical assessments, device validations, design thinking workshops, co-creations, and sprints.

• Manage the delivery and deployment of designed solutions, working collaboratively across the Digital & Enterprise Capabilities team to ensure appropriate infrastructure and security requirements are in place for successful launch and LCM.

• Develop and maintain extensive networks with external partners and innovation ecosystems, ensuring Sage is at the forefront of emergent innovation opportunities in our areas of focus.

• Maintain a view of the competitive landscape and drive best practices around digital innovation, digital health, and digital experience, developing new and innovative ways to enhance the digital footprint across the enterprise.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for digital health, digital innovation, and digital experience internally and externally for Sage.

• Lead internal webinars, develop educational materials, and help drive change management around digital innovation at Sage.

• Hire, motivate, and develop a team of digital health and innovation experts.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.  Must have a demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action, excellent analytical skills, and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Basic Qualifications

• BA/BS required.

• 8+ years of experience in life sciences, medical devices, or consulting with demonstrated experience and results in innovation focused roles, like digital health, digital transformation, or digital experience.

• Experience in digital health across both clinical and commercial with demonstrated impact.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred.

• Ability to build relationships, partner, and lead cross-functionally.

• Understanding of design thinking, product development, and innovation frameworks (JTBD, etc.).

• Experience with digital health, including hardware (wearables, etc.), software platforms, and regulatory knowledge strongly preferred.

• Experience with digital health validation methodologies (V3 Framework).

• Dynamic presenter who can inspire and get people excited about the possibilities of digital health, digital innovation, and digital experience.

• Big picture, strategic thinking with complementary attention to detail and execution focus.

• Ability to work individually, within a cross-functional team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
