Job Details

We are seeking an R&D Associate to join our highly dynamic neuroscience team. The successful candidate will be focused on the design and execution of experiments to understand the underlying mechanisms, discover new therapeutic targets and validate novel therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.

As an R&D Associate on the neuroscience team, a typical day might include the following:

  • Performing cell culture and cell-based assays with immortalized cell lines, iPSC-derived neuronal cultures and primary neurons.

  • Evaluating misfolded protein uptake, aggregation and spread in vitro using immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry.

  • Assisting with tissue dissection and collection in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases, and processing samples for biochemistry and immunohistochemistry analyses.

  • Testing novel therapeutic strategies in in vitro and in vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Surveying current and relevant literature to expand scientific and technical knowledge, optimize and develop new assays and bring innovative ideas.

  • Performing advanced data analysis as well as troubleshooting with minimal supervision.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a Master of Science and a minimum of 1 year of experience or Bachelor of Science and 3 years of experience in Neuroscience/Neurodegeneration. The candidate should have hands-on experience in a laboratory research setting and be comfortable conducting experiments that support both in vitro and in vivo efforts. Industry or academic experience in biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, cell culture and cell-based techniques is preferred. Experience with iPSCs and flow cytometry is highly desirable. Excellent verbal and communication skills, and the ability also required.
