We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Scientist / Senior Research Associate / Research Associate to join the biology team. In your role, you will be focused on mechanism of action studies, biochemical and cell-based assay development, assay execution in medium throughput, as well as the establishment of cell-based systems to interrogate new target biology and support new target validation. The exact level of your role will be commensurate with your experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain stable cell lines and primary glial and neuronal cultures
  • Conduct molecular biology, biochemical and cell-based assays in low-medium throughput to support new target identification and validation, compound optimization efforts, and mechanism of action studies
  • Analyze data, interpret, and communicate results
  • Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
  • Rely upon your keen analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions
  • Keep current with scientific literature relating to neurodegeneration

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular/Cell Biology, or related discipline with hands on research experience in either an academic lab or industrial setting
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments
  • Experience in mammalian tissue culture including cell lines and primary cells
  • Experience with gene editing techniques including lentiviral production and transduction, stable cell line development, siRNA, and CRISPR-based gene editing
  • Experience with basic molecular biology techniques and assay platforms including but not limited to qPCR, western blot, Alpha screens, and MSD
  • Experience with mouse dissection/tissue harvest
  • Experience with robotics and automated liquid handling systems
