Accounts Payable Specialist

 

Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.

As the AP Specialist, reporting to the Associate Director of Accounting, you will help build Element’s Accounts Payable processes from the ground up at a rapidly growing company. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, with an ability to work well with others but also independently.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Process high volume invoices in NetSuite using 3-way matching and electronic record keeping
• Review purchasing transactions to confirm correct account coding and tax classification
• Reconcile discrepancies and respond to vendor inquiries in a timely manner
• Assist in improving the accounts payable process identifying areas of performance improvement
• Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

• Incredible level of organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable team player; no task is too big or too small
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• General knowledge of GAAP and an understanding of internal accounting controls
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Education and Experience

• AA/BA degree or equivalent work experience within an Accounting department
• 1+ years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable
• Experience with NetSuite or similar next-generation SaaS accounting systems a plus
