What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. The Immuno-Oncology research team is searching for a Senior Associate Scientist to perform research in immuno-oncology. In this vital role, you will contribute to the groups mission to gain a deep understanding of immune-mediated regulation of the tumor microenvironment, and contribute to pipeline projects by identification and validation of novel targets and immunotherapeutic strategies. You will perform in vitro cell-based assays and in vivo studies focused on myeloid cell functions during tumor progression. The candidate will be part of a laboratory group and contribute to multiple project teams, and will collaborate with other research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Biomarkers, Medical Sciences, and Computational Biology.

Responsibilities include:
  • Independently design, perform, and analyze laboratory experiments, including troubleshooting and optimization of assays
  • Generate presentations and communicate results in department and project team meetings
  • Collaborate with team members to design, conduct and analyze mouse model studies
  • Perform in vitro assays to dissect the mechanism of action of small or large therapeutic molecules targeting myeloid cells
  • Present data in department and team meetings and contribute to external presentations including posters and manuscripts
  • Make impactful scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and breakthroughs of the Immuno-Oncology group.

Basic qualifications

Masters degree and 3 years of scientific experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Or

PhD degree to be conferred no later than December 2021

Preferred qualifications
  • Recently graduated Ph.D in field of immunology and cancer biology.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular, cellular, and ex vivo biological techniques and assays, including isolation and culture of primary cells.
  • Flow cytometry and multi-parametric analysis (5-15 colors) experience and familiarity with bioinformatic tools is desired.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work in a flexible, collaborative environment
  • Attention to detail, translating into high quality results
  • Computer literacy, especially proficiency with GraphPad Prism, FlowJo
