Research Associate, Imaging Systems

We are currently searching for a Research Associate, Imaging Systems  to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC, and it is on-site in Rockville, MD.

• Assist in the daily operation of the core imaging facility. 
• Assemble microscope systems, including peripheral components, cameras and computer systems.
• Utilize MatLab to create computer programming solutions for a variety of imaging processing issues.
• Interact with scientists to teach microscopy techniques, provide advice for imaging experiments, and troubleshoot technical problems with the microscope systems. 
• Participate in collaborative projects that expand the imaging and analysis capabilities of the core and publish quality science. 

• Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field. Master's degree plus two (2) years of related experience can be considered equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Expert in bright field, epifluorescence, confocal, TIRF, super-resolution, and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy techniques.
• Expert in multiple image analysis software packages including ZEN, IMARIS MetaMorph and ImageJ
• Must be efficient in MatLab computer programming.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with existing team members and scientists; provide advice for imaging experts, and troubleshooting issues, and conveying those details.
