Job Details

The Regeneron Genetics (RGC) has built one of the largest databases of genetic sequence from 100,000s of participants linked to rich phenotype data from electronic health records and other sources.  We use these data to gain insights into disease mechanisms, identify novel therapeutic targets, and enable Regeneron to deliver better medicines to patients in need. You will work collaboratively with other experts in genomic data analysis, biology, computation, and medicine to design, implement, and refine analyses that connect genetic variation to human diseases and health and develop and implement the methods and tools to enable these analyses to be completed and interpreted at scale.

We are looking for a Sr. Statistical Genetics Analyst to interface regularly with disease-focused research groups to identify and prioritize novel therapeutic targets. Experience or interest working with immune-related phenotypes a plus.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Implement and interpret analyses of genome-wide association analysis, with sequencing or genotyping data as a substrate.
  • Critically review, provide, and incorporate feedback on analysis plans, results, and summaries. Work iteratively in a team environment to define best standards and productive analysis strategies, execution plans, and summaries.
  • Identify potential problems and propose remedies or refinements.
  • Summarize and present the results of human genetic studies to a variety of technical audiences, ranging from experts in statistical genetics and computation to experts in biology, drug design and medicine.

This role might be for you if you:

  • Bring enthusiasm and innovative thinking to large-scale genomic analysis.
  • Have a strong work ethic and are proactive in driving projects forward, troubleshooting challenges, and communicating results.
  • Enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment with a diverse team of colleagues.
  • Use outstanding communication skills to summarize and present new human genetic concepts and results to a variety of audiences, ranging from specialists in statistical genetics and computation to specialists in biology, drug design, and medicine.
  • Are a motivated teammate with a desire to pursue genetic discovery in a multi-disciplinary environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have Knowledge of genome-wide analyses and approaches, including quality control options for genomic data, approaches for association analysis in the presence of relatedness or population structure. Experience with multiple tools for large scale genetic analyses (e.g. REGENIE, PLINK, SAIGE, METAL). Experience with the R and with one or more modern programming language (e.g. Python, C/C++, Javascript). Understanding of strategies and methods for genotype imputation, haplotyping, relationship inference and/or polygenic risk score estimation.  Expertise with the analysis of DNA sequence data is a plus. Expertise in developing analysis packages and tools is desired, as demonstrated by leadership or contributor roles to statistical packages available on GitHub or elsewhere.
