The Senior Manager will support the global and US external communications strategy and implementation for Pfizer’s investigational COVID-19 antiviral therapy(s) and will lead external communication efforts for ELIQUIS for atrial fibrillation. In addition, the Sr. Manager will support external communications priorities for other Hospital and Internal Medicine Business Unit medicines. The Sr. Manager will work closely with Pfizer cross-functional colleagues to develop and implement external communications plans to support data, clinical and regulatory milestones, issues management, disease awareness, lifecycle management and more.

The role reports to the Senior Director for External Communications responsible for Internal Medicine, Hospital and Rare Disease Business Units.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and execution of the strategic communication plans in close coordination with Pfizer cross-functional team and Alliance counterparts.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director, External Comms lead and other Biopharma communicators to ensure alignment of external communication strategies.
  • Serves as communication business partner for BMS and internal teams to ensure execution against strategy for ELIQUIS.
  • Interacts with external agencies as it relates to external communications across brands.
  • Partners with BU public affairs, media relations, digital, IR and reputation comms colleagues as needed to ensure communication activities are well integrated and aligned with overall Corporate Affairs objectives
  • Supports the development of core external communications materials such as press releases, Q&A, statements, fact sheets, talk points, social media content, campaign materials, slides, etc.
  • Leads and manages all product review committee processes to ensure communications strategies and materials are compliant.
  • Collaborates with Country Communicators to ensure messaging for brands is consistent and that they have the appropriate support for key initiatives (e.g., issues, product launches).

Qualifications:

  • Seasoned communications professional with at least seven years in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in global product communications, media relations or public relations preferable.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field required.
  • Experience in Marketing, Communications and/or PR required.
  • Experience working with cross-functional or matrix teams.
  • Experience in developing, leading and implementing communications and public relations plans.
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership project management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop, implement and measure success of PR and communications plans.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and levels across highly matrixed organization and manage multiple projects against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work closely with Pfizer leaders, demonstrating poise and executive presence.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with teams.
