The Opportunity

The (Senior) Human Resources Business Partner will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams and play a key role in supporting managers and their team members with operational and strategic guidance that will result in building leadership capability and ensuring an awesome employee experience.

The strategic focus of this role will be to drive People and Culture initiatives in alignment with the people strategy and the growth plans of the business for 2022 and beyond. You will provide effective solutions-oriented support to the teams in the areas of developing, engaging, and retaining talent. You will promote a collaborative and collegial environment, a growth mindset, and a high-performance culture, in support of the delivery of our mission: Leading the way to better medicines through predictive models that integrate machine learning and biology at scale.

This role will be based in South San Francisco, although we will consider hybrid or remote work models. In collaboration with the People team, you will have an opportunity for great impact on the organization and its people by bringing in your HR/People Operations generalist expertise and ideas to shape the evolution of the organization.

You will be joining the founding team of a biotech startup that has long-term stability due to significant funding, yet is very much in formation. You will have the opportunity to accelerate people and organizational performance that promote the continued growth of our dynamic company by primarily focusing on the following areas:
- Offer consultation and coaching across all functional areas in the areas of talent management and development, retention, engagement, performance, employee relations, DEI, and well-being to achieve the goals of a growing organization
- Bring best practices and data-driven perspectives to strategic and operational business discussions and people management
- Be a trusted partner to people managers and team members alike and proactively address any issues that may be holding people back
- Initiate and implement solutions that meet the unique needs of our scaling organization
- Support the implementation of team members’ career development plans 
- Ensure actions taken in the organization are aligned with our collaborative culture that is based on diversity and inclusion
- Collaborate with the People team and organizational leaders to promote a culture that engages and inspires team members
- Support managers through the performance and compensation review process, providing education and coaching
- Take a lead role in implementing a new onboarding program and ensure that new team members develop a sense of belonging and can be effective in their roles from the start
- Conduct exit interviews and drive improvements as needed

About You
- 5+ years HR/People Ops experience, preferably in Life Sciences and/or Technology
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills: respectful, good listener
- Ability and desire to collaborate with people across different functions, build rapport and trust among all collaborators in the organization
- Data-driven mindset to initiate, implement, and measure “best practice” solutions
- Ability to understand business needs and to translate needs into solutions within broader context of organization’s success
- Excellent judgment and a high level of integrity and work ethic
- Self-motivated, proactive with ability to take initiative and find “win-win” solutions
- Capacity to thrive and perform in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and to manage multiple priorities
- Growth mindset with interest to learn new things and ability to adapt to changes in a growing organization
