What You Will Achieve

Your expertise in the manufacturing domain will help Pfizer with the operations required for the assembly and packaging of finished goods. You will manage product finishing scheduling, setting up, operating, maintaining, and adjusting processes or packaging equipment. You will be a team member who is relied to have a good understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, materials and equipment. Your decision making will help you prioritize workflows based on the available resources.

You will follow standard procedures to complete tasks, some of which may vary in scope, sequence, complexity and timing. You will contribute to the team’s success by sharing your previously acquired knowledge. You will be relied upon to maximize quality and efficiency; completing batch records and associated documentation, and working in an integrated computerized manufacturing environment.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Manage own time, professional development, prioritize work-flows and be accountable for own results.

  • Act as a skilled Packaging Operations Technician within {Current} Good Manufacturing Practices {part of GMP} regulated areas in the Packaging facility, reporting to the Packaging Team Leader.

  • Operate the appropriate assembly/packaging equipment per Standard Operating Procedures and Batch Records.

  • Ensures equipment is operational when returned after maintenance, and maintenance log is completed and accurate.

  • Work effectively within a team with moderate supervision, at times working cross functionally.

  • Able to perform calculations for percent accountabilities, reconciliation of numerical values.

  • Monitor, evaluate and adjust processes or packaging equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.

  • Conduct primary packaging process both in pilot/study and commercial lots that meet product specification as per approved Packaging Instruction and/or protocol.

  • Perform all manual packaging and inspection duties as required by operating unit.

  • Packaging Technicians are responsible for the operation of manufacturing production lines. Work is performed in strict compliance with manufacturing standards (SOPs) and following all regulatory requirements (i.e., GMPs & OSHA).  This job includes the following functions:

  • Supporting development and execution of Capital Projects, corrective actions, and continuous improvement ideas.

  • Perform all tasks in strict compliance with operating procedures, best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Dependable – Follows unit / area / plant requirements and guidelines.

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors within the unit, taking ownership and accountability of the production schedule, product quality, and leading by example.

  • Willing to assist other production units in order to meet unit / site goals.

  • Perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks in support of the Kalamazoo Site objectives.

  • Demonstrating growth mindset to share best practices and utilize downtime effectively.

  • Completing and maintaining all required training on time, to maintain training at or above Site Goal

  • Perform all operating duties as required by operating unit.

  • Operate selected production process equipment.

  • Assist or perform setup of selected equipment with guidance from leadership.

  • Perform Line clearances and cleaning.

  • Perform necessary process checks including, but not limited to, package checks, hourly audits, etc.

  • Perform equipment and facility compliance assessments.

  • Train and mentor new colleagues and TCW’s.

  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding issues and errors with GMP documentation.

QualificationsMust-Have
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2+ years’ experience

  • Experience of related experience and/or training

  • Math and reading skills required for Standard Operating Procedure, Good Manufacturing Practices {also cGMP} and Batch Record comprehension

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form

  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing responsibilities

  • Ability to contribute to department success in a team environment and perform tasks at a productive level under demanding conditions

Nice-to-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree

 
 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Demands:

  • Considerable standing. Walking, bending reaching and lifting up to 42 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination is required.

This position requires the manual packaging of products.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Positions can be staffed across all three shifts based on business needs.  Weekend, holiday, and overtime may be required to meet business or customer needs.
