They will enjoy working collaboratively with laboratory scientists and computational biologists on a range of exciting scientific problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain broad experience in a startup environment and to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design and optimize high-throughput assays to evaluate properties of new AAV constructs
• Establish protocols in cell biology (cell line development, culturing, functional manipulation and analyte isolation etc.), DNA/RNA manipulation (molecular cloning, nucleic acid extraction and amplification, sequencing workflows etc.), and/or protein analysis (ELISA, Western Blots, HPLC/FPLC etc.)
• Lead experimental planning, execution, and iteration to independently drive projects to completion
• Collaborate closely with computational biologists and bioinformaticians on data analysis and QC
• Grow into leadership roles by mentoring and training junior scientists and research associates
• Read and provide feedback on scientific papers and emerging NGS-based technologies
• Support continued innovation as a thought leader for assay innovation
• Effectively communicate internally and externally by leading meetings, presentations, and publication efforts
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic laboratory records

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or a related field with 2+ years of industry experience preferred, or BS/MS with equivalent experience
• Strong hands-on laboratory experience and in-depth knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology, and laboratory instrumentation, especially applied towards novel assay development
• Experience with NGS-based assay workflows
• Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Background in virology or immunology research a plus
• Experience working with high-throughput automated platforms (Hamilton STAR, Tecan Evo, Agilent Bravo etc.) a plus
• Experience processing and analyzing NGS data using statistical software and libraries (R, Python) a plus
• Prior experience in mentorship or management a plus

BENEFITS:

• Competitive salary and benefits
• Biotech and gene therapy on-the-job training
• Joining a new division in an early-stage biotech company
• Career growth opportunities
