Investigator I - Structure-based Antigen Design

Job Summary

This position is responsible for structure-based antigen design for viral disease targets to support mRNA novel vaccine development.

This position will use structural knowledge to provide conformation insights of viral antigen, and design, produce and evaluate antigens for development of immunogenic and stable vaccines.

Major Responsibilities

Structure-based antigen design for immunogenic and stable vaccines

• Design antigens through structural knowledge for viral antigen protein
• Establish the cryoEM capability through external partners and determine structures of novel complexes using

Production and purification of viral antigens and reagents

• Design expression and purification strategy and perform antigen production and purification to support preclinical research

• Performance and data analysis of biochemical/biophysical characterization and quantification of antigen in protein and nucleic acid formatscryoEM and other approaches to guide antigen design

Documentation and presentation of scientific results

• Write experimental protocols and prepare internal reports. Maintain lab notebooks
• Interact with cross-functional project teams and stakeholders, present research results and contribute to technical advancements and publications
• Interact with external collaborators

Lab management

• Maintain functional laboratory equipment and follow HSE regulation.

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Biochemistry or related biological sciences.
• PhD with 1-3 years + postdoc academic or pharmaceutical/biotech experience in biochemistry.
• Creative and the ability to generate accurate and reproducible results along with multi-tasking and working effectively in a fast-paced environment are critical
• Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills and ability to work in teams is essential

Preferred Requirements

• Strong experience with protein structural biology is required. Experience with CyroEM is preferred
• Strong experience with expression and purification for recombinant protein and protein complex is required. Experience with viral proteins is preferred
• Experience with biochemical/biophysical characterization with HPLC, MALS/DLS and other technologies for large molecules and particles is preferred
