Research Project Manager
General Scope and Summary
Sage Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, collaborative, resourceful, and results-oriented Research Project Manager to support operations and project management initiatives within the Sage Research Operations Organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational aspects of project management, diligence, and other department-related activities. In addition, this individual will ensure collaboration and alignment between the Research functions, initiatives, and/or projects and senior leadership within the Research organization. Project and/or operations management experience will be required to manage and execute the needs of our scientific teams. This position will report to the Associate Director, Research Operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible for partnering with Early Research & Lead Optimization teams to determine, plan, and execute strategy, process, and vision of team.
Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan, budgets, timelines, communication processes, and standards.
Responsible for all aspects of coordinating and supporting team meetings. In addition, conduct relevant follow-ups to sustain stakeholder engagement.
Responsible for contributing to research operations knowledge management: tools, content, and capture.
Experience, Education, and Specialized Knowledge & Skills
Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Requisites include excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, an ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations. A demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action, communicate complex issues in a simple way, and orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks is also required.
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in a drug discovery organization or project/operations management-based role.
Experience in project management and business relationship management with internal and external partners.
Knowledge of the drug discovery process from target identification through lead optimization preferred.
Demonstrates commitment in addressing issues and bringing them to resolution.
Basic understanding of financial aspects of outsourced operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced innovative environment with competing tasks.
Must have a strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and successfully in a matrix environment.
Ability to function in ambiguity and propose viable solutions.
Strong communication skills and problem-solving talents.
