PAWithin Regeneron, there are a growing number of diverse partnerships and alliances with external entities. This individual will help to build productive external partnerships across several key areas.  The Associate Director will support the identification, execution and management of overarching strategic relationships with various organizations and institutions to support the Global Clinical Development organization’s efforts to more effectively develop Regeneron’s product candidates and advance the company’s broader R&D objectives. The individual will function as a strategic and critical thinker, identifying and developing of key external relationships and coordinating across a matrix of teams with the purposes of identifying opportunities and streamlining external partnership initiation and maintenance. They will be focused on building an internal capability on behalf of Regeneron that is highly-regarded by external stakeholders and internal leaders. The individual will partner closely with other internal leaders embedded in the company who work with external partners to ensure collaboration, continuity and alignment. This role will be highly collaborative with other functions and will require thoughtful and inclusive leadership.  This role will be tasked with not only identifying strategic partnerships, but facilitating the drafting and execution of contracts, as well as remaining connected to the overarching relationships, while helping to facilitate the components that live in specific areas throughout the life of the agreements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner and collaborate with multiple business functions (including, but not limited to: Research, Development, Commercial, Business Development, Site Operations, Vendor Management, Clinical Trial Management, Innovation, Project Management and Strategic Alliances, Global Trial Optimization, etc)
  • Play a critical role in creating a long-term company-wide strategy on how best to leverage collaborations with external entities to address needs and opportunities to enable Regeneron to more effectively conduct clinical trials and translational and basic research.
  • Drive the vetting and coordination associated with opportunities for partnership. When needed, coordinate with other internal experts for support.
  • Coordinate the identification of new opportunities with new or existing partner organizations
  • Support the identification and evaluation of key external stakeholders based on agreed upon corporate needs/gaps.
  • Work cross-functionally to best leverage/prioritize the value of larger and more strategic partnerships.
  • Hand-off new partnerships and opportunities identified for relationship management and further development to internal collaborator teams
  • Manage and track external partnership opportunities, in collaboration with project management colleagues and other external-facing colleagues.  
  • Develop consistent channels for timely and productive communication with internal/external partners and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure continuity of messaging/contact.
  • Collaborating with Global Trial Optimization, evaluate and identify opportunities for innovation, synergy and efficiency in new and existing partnerships
  • Upholding and driving clear processes for engaging in external partnerships, as part of community of practice
  • Identify company strengths, capabilities and gaps to address through partnerships
  • Support the development of justification for business cases for partnership opportunities

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MD) with 6+ years of experience
  • Ability to build consensus with leaders and colleagues to gain support for initiatives.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong existing relationships and reputation within the life science industry, specifically with academic medical centers and large health systems.   
  • Previous experience in and deep understanding of the drug development process.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with a sense of urgency and to navigate within a matrix organization.  
  • Experienced in planning and execution; thinks strategically and executes tactically in order to deliver positive results for the business.  
  • Strong business and financial management acumen.  
  • Demonstrated resiliency; able and willing to explore different paths to achieve an outcome.  Consistently demonstrates good judgment. Takes initiative to bring forward new ideas to improve processes and programs.   
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate accurately and concisely.   
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to define new processes and operating systems.   
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Solid organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Experience working with senior leadership, clinicians and researchers.
  • Extensive experience in establishing and managing external partnerships, alliances, relationships and coalitions
  • Experience operating across a matrix of teams and influencing without authority
  • Evidence of prior innovative thinking in identifying opportunities for efficiency and synergy in the context of partnerships
  • Ability to connect disparate pieces of information and connect groups for mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Evidence of strong relationship building and maintenance experience
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment to influence strategy.
