The Data Enablement and Analytics team, within the PMPD (Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development) organization, provides the management and continuous improvement of data systems, and delivers digital, data & analytics platforms and solutions in support of the PMPD “Science to Process” mission, making data usable and useful! We are seeking a talented individual responsible for leading data science and visualization solution delivery to accelerate process development, tech transfer and bring new medicines to patients.  This role will have an exciting opportunity to empower PMPD with value-focused data science solutions to achieve increased end-to-end process visibility, comparability and predictability across unit operations, scales and products from complex datasets, and thus to derive business insights and maximize the value of data assets.

A Typical Day in the Role Might Look Like:
  • Partners with PMPD functions, manufacturing and IT to advance data science/analytics capabilities in support of Quality by Design (QbD), bioprocess development, Biologics License Applications (BLA) submission and manufacturing process investigation
  • Develops, implements and maintains data visualization/dashboard solutions for visualizing bioproduction and quality profiles
  • Delivers data science/analytics solutions, e.g. in-silico modeling (mechanistic, hybrid & empirical modeling), Artificial Intelligence (AI) /Machine Learning (ML), chemometric/multivariate modeling, for bioprocess design, simulation, potential real-time monitoring, control and optimization

To be considered for this role, you must have a PhD in chemical/biochemical engineering, data science or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master’s degree with 7+ years, or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years. Extensive experience in delivering data science/advanced analytics, AI/ML and digital solutions & products. Hands-on experience in development and deployment of data visualization, dashboard building, classification and regression models in pilot or production environment. In-depth knowledge of data science/ advanced analytics (Predictive & Prescriptive analytics), AI/ML, soft sensor, multivariate analysis, chemometrics, mechanistic, hybrid, empirical modeling and associated software platforms. Proficient in Python and SQL. Experience with a variety of analytics platforms desired, such as Spotfire, JMP, SIMCA, Matlab, PharmaMV, Seeq and Dataiku etc. Knowledge of QbD (Quality by Design), PAT (Process Analytical Technology) and APC (Advanced Process Control) a plus.  High-level understanding of systems architectural and communication standards including ISA-95, OPC, MQTT, DCOM and TCP/IP. Good understanding of biologics manufacturing processes, e.g. cell culture and purification, and associated data sources, data aggregation and consumption need. Prior experience in biopharma or biotech preferred. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management, with a varying degree of familiarity with data science.
