Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

As a Software Engineer II-Informatics, you will join our Informatics Software group, where we develop software using the best technologies to solve the needs of the R&D laboratory users. We are seeking an individual who is interested in developing software solutions to streamline laboratory processes. With the increasing amount of data generated by researchers, it is our responsibility as software engineers to provide solutions to streamline their work. When the laboratory succeeds, we succeed. While enabling the progress of cutting-edge science, this is also an opportunity to learn the latest and greatest software development patterns and practices. Other main responsibilities include:

  • Develop APIs to expose data for other services and websites

  • Design front-end web pages for laboratory users to complete workflows

  • Collaborate with scientific stakeholders to create or modify requirements defining software services

  • Deploy solutions to cloud infrastructure via CI/CD pipelines

  • Work with laboratory users to implement and test new workflows

  • Write documentation and help users with issues

About You:

Are you a Software Engineer II-Informatics who is interested in building software to help others? Our ideal candidate will have a BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field. Experience in the biotech industry is a plus but not required if skills and enthusiasm are aligned. We currently work as a team in a hybrid work environment. You should feel comfortable working on your own in such an environment. To support you, we utilize online project management and source control to delegate and accomplish our development needs.

Skills and technologies you should be familiar with include:

  • Python, and a strong understanding of object-orientated programming concepts.

  • JavaScript, Node, and experience working with front end frameworks like Vue, Angular, or React

  • Git and source control systems

  • SQL and interacting with database systems

  • Development and Consumption of RESTful web services

  • Scripting in Linux and Windows Environments

  • Network communications (TCP/IP, DNS, etc…)

In addition to the above skills experience, you will also interact with the following technologies:

  • Experience working with LIMS or Laboratory Software

  • Laboratory Automation (Liquid handlers, Plate readers, Dispensers, etc…)

  • AWS

  • ORM

  • Vue.js

Meet your future team:

The Informatics team members typically fit in two categories, bioinformaticists and software engineers. The bioinformaticists are responsible for ensuring data integrity and quality while also maintaining the development of genomic pipelines. The software engineers are responsible for developing services and portals for end-users as well as managing cloud-based infrastructure. We also utilize several domain-specific contractors who remotely on our team to provide additional resources for development. Together the informatics team provides critical support and design services for the R&D laboratory.

We are primarily remote with the occasional visit to the laboratory when onsite testing is required. By utilizing modern development methodologies and remote conferencing tools we have maintained a high level of productivity and software delivery. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast, fun, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building amazing software together.

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
