Lets do this. Lets change the world!! Amgen is searching for an Accounting Manager on its Global Accounting team supporting our Plant, Property and Equipment (PP&E) accounting area. This role will report to a Senior Manager of Accounting and will be located in Amgen Capability Center in Tampa, FL.

This Accounting Manager will play a key role in completing accounting and reporting activities and ensuring US GAAP and other statutory reporting compliance.

  • Handle the accounting for PP&E, including ensuring accurate accounting for the fixed assets/capital projects/software and ownership of the related internal controls
  • Interact and work cross-functionally with various Finance teams to execute processes to account for transactions that occur outside of typical company processes
  • Manage and train staff team members of outsourced/off-shore accounting service provider
  • Understands relevant company accounting policies and procedures and interprets these to make quick decisions and provide mentorship and application of the policies to specific transactions, in particular PP&E, Lease and Software (Cloud and On-Premise)
  • Interact and work with the various global, functional accounting teams to facilitate monthly and quarterly close activities, including variance analysis, executive reporting and account analysis
  • Manages the key balance sheet analysis review process and communicate results optimally in biannual meetings with management and the business
  • Preparation or review and approval of financial schedules such as footnote disclosures, close reporting deliverables, and providing support for other ad hoc schedules, as needed
  • Manage and/or support additional routine accounting items based on US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Execute financial controls over transactions to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley controls are executed in accordance with company policies
  • Provide audit support to internal and external auditors for PP&E and related accounts and transactions.
Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Masters degree AND 2 years of Finance experience

OR

Bachelors degree AND 4 years of Finance experience

OR

Associates degree AND 10 years of Finance experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Finance experience

We seek is a self-starter with these qualifications:

  • 4+ years of corporate or public accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Audit or Big 4 Public Accounting experience
  • Comprehensive accounting knowledge on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills and be able to bridge culture differences
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in SAP ECC and BCS Consolidations Systems
  • Experience with SAP and BW, Hyperion, EDW applications
